Cruise World Day #9-sea day--3rd day setting clock back--January
13
After a full night of sleep, I awoke at 6:30 AM and
updated my blogs. Then, I had coffee and breakfast at my favorite aft pool-area
table. I am delighted they brought pineapple on board from Costa Rica.
For the first time, I joined an arts and craft activity
with the Polynesian ambassador team. We made necklaces with intricate shells
that were especially picked for us. Each
color represents a meaningful value.
Yellow: land white: clouds green: sea. More than 40 man-hours, per
necklace, were involved in picking, and drilling these delicate shells. They always wear a piece of the land. I
really like mine.
The lecture on Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands was
helpful. I look forward to strolling around the harbor in the laid back, low
tech, culturally rich destination. I like the presenter’s (Barbara) conviction
and passion for travel.
Tonight was the gala black and silver ball. The ship was
beautifully decked out in those theme colors as were the guests. Dancing was a blast and a good time was had
by all.
I enjoyed watching 92-year old Dolly dance with some of
the officers. She held her own gracefully and wore a black evening gown and
long black gloves. This is her 25th
world cruise. She “lives on ships” 10 months out of the year.
That's all for today.
